When looking at credit cards, most people focus on the card’s top-line benefits. Things like lounge access, travel credit, and points spending bonuses. Often overlooked are card-linked shopping offers, like those offered by our partner Citi.

Using these programs, credit card issues partner with well-known brands to offer discounts to cardholders in exchange for promoting the retailer in their offers dashboard. Cardholders can see big savings with these programs that can earn back their card’s annual fee or more.

Amex Offers and Chase Offers are probably the most well-known variations but a new bank added its own offering to compete. Back in December 2020, Citi rolled out Citi Merchant Offers to many of its cardholders. And in mid-2022, more Citi cardholders are being targeted.

How to Find Citi Merchant Offers

The program works very similarly to the Amex and Chase offerings most cardholders are familiar with, but it does have some quirks. Unlike Amex which gives Amex Offers its own prominent tab on its app and Chase which puts its offers front and center to cardholders when logging in, Citi’s Merchant Offers are a bit more tricky to locate. The easiest way to find your Merchant Offers on Citi’s site is to navigate directly to this page and logging in: https://online.citi.com/US/ag/merchantoffers

Once you log in, you’ll see the offers that are available to you and can add them to your card. The program is available for most Citi personal cardholders (including those with no-annual-fee cards).

What Kind Of Savings Can You Get With Citi Merchant Offers?

Everyone’s targeted offers with Citi Merchant Offers will be different. There’s no guarantee that your account will be targeted for a specific offer but some of the initial offers will be quite attractive to many cardholders.

For example, some cardholders found themselves targeted for a series of offers from Uber.

  • Spend $9.99+ on Uber One & get $9.99 back (maximum 2 times)
  • Spend $25+ on Uber Eats & get $10 back (maximum 3 times)
  • Spend any amount on an Uber ride & get $10 back (maximum 4 times)

If maximized, the offers are worth a combined $90 in savings. If you’re a frequent Uber customer, that could wipe out the annual fee on some Citi cards.

Other brands users found themselves targeted for savings when the program launched including Sam’s Club, BP, GoPuff, Blue Apron, Rover, wine.com and airlines including Virgin Atlantic and Hawaiian Airlines.

These savings can even sometimes stack with savings from other cashback portals (like AAdvantage eShopping and SimplyMiles). Citi does not have language preventing customers from adding the same offer to multiple cards for redemption. This is different from American Express which limits each Amex Offer to one card enrollment per customer. Theoretically, if you’re targeted for the Uber offers mentioned above on multiple cards, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to add them and redeem them multiple times across multiple cards.

Bottom Line

It’s always good news when card issuers add more benefits for consumers. Citi offers a large portfolio of cards both under its own brand and as part of its partnership with American Airlines. The new Citi Merchant Offers is another way to save. If you’re a Citi customer, it's worth checking to see if offers are enabled on your card. And check regularly to add offers to your card – you don’t want to miss out on savings because you didn’t add an offer to your card!
